2025 Tenets/Brief Manifesto

2025 Tenets/Brief Manifesto

I have a few ideas for this upcoming year. Whether you view them as tenets to live by or more of a manifesto is up to you.

Billionaires are evil. They thrive through exploitation. They now “officially” control the government. Capital has controlled our government for decades or really since its inception, but it hasn’t been this bad since the Gilded Age. We are living through some kind of techno feudalist age.

Expect more violence. Life has become much more difficult to improve your social class let alone save money. Luigi was just the beginning. We’ve had stochastic terrorism for several decades, so I’m not sure why people were surprised. Health care corpos are also evil.

Change things that you can change. I joined a karate dojo this past year and I am absolutely loving this new activity. I was awarded my Yellow Belt in Kenjutsu and will be focusing on hand-to-hand combat as well (Sure, I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, but martial arts are meant for lifelong learning).

Don’t buy dumb things that you won’t use. Think before you buy garbage on Amazon.

Household goods and groceries will continue to get more expensive or at least won’t return to pre-covid prices.

We are in a housing bubble and probably a tech bubble too. It won’t look like the 2008 variable mortgage crash, but I would be concerned. Have cash on hand.

Don’t blame yourself for falling short of your financial goals. Capitalism is destroying us and it’s incredibly difficult to get out of debt. Wages have only recently started to increase after stagnating since the 80s. Shit is super expensive everywhere. Don’t feel guilty about making less money. As long as you’re surviving, you’re doing fine.

Educate yourself through reading, not 10 second videos. I absolutely loath TikTok and most social media. Still, I’m conflicted about a ban.

Take trains whenever possible.

No human being is illegal. Mass immigration will only increase with intensifying climate disasters.

Develop or join a community no matter how small.

Vaccines are effective and pose virtually no risk to your health. Get every vaccine you can (that your doctor recommends). If you did not get the COVID vaccine, you are risking harm to yourself and others.

Your boss may be friendly, but they are not your friend (myself included).

Social programs work and benefit everyone living in society not just the poor.

When reform is ignored and people are struggling, violence is inevitable.

Natural disasters will continue to increase in frequency and strength due to the planet’s temperature increasing.

There are a couple books I would recommend you read for 2025: “The Undertow: Scenes from a Slow Civil War” and “The Great Displacement”. I don’t mean to be cryptic, but it’s going to get a lot worse in this country and I don’t see the US improving for well over a decade. Hopefully we get lucky with Bird Flu given the abysmal covid response. Good luck. We’re gonna need it, but don’t give up. Agitate, Educate, Organize!
