Change is Coming Soon: Consumer Advocacy

I started this blog in April 2019. I’ve been posting as frequently as I can, and continue to strive toward advocating for improving your quality of life. I’ve written about deeply personal experiences, advocated for workers’ rights, and touched on religion. I’ve explored satire and politics. I’ve delved into money management and how Millennials are the most indebted generation from Baby Boomer oppression. While it’s fun to say, “OK Boomer”, playing on their ignorance and unwillingness to learn, the real problem is capitalism and the ultra wealthy. King David will no longer only advocate for our generation as this audience has changed. The blog will expand its viewer audience to include Gen. X, Gen. Z., and of course, Millennials, who’ve all been affected by the ruling class. Baby Boomers are welcome to read — But please don’t ask me how to convert to PDF.

Consumer advocacy has been largely neglected since Reagonomics. Wages have stagnated while the costs of living have greatly increased. Neoliberal politicians and Conservatives have only increased the wealth gap between the Haves and Have Nots. The myth of “Pull yourself up by your bootstraps” continues to be perpetrated, but more of us are waking up. While the Democratic party is certainly better at improving working class policies, they favor their own ruling class above anyone else. We’ve seen a strong populist movement with Donald Trump winning the 2016 election, and with Bernie Sanders left in the dust, often ignored by the media. For those who voted for Trump, you’ve advocated against the consumer. I’ll spend the rest of my life correcting your terrible mistake. Still, I’m here to help and guide you. I’m passionate about consumer advocacy and strive to build a better world.

Dealing with depressive episodes and an anxiety disorder has been challenging in maintaining this blog. Feelings of hopelessness and the uncertainty of choosing a new career path weighs heavily on me. I don’t think I’m a good writer and my self-esteem always falls short. I’ve abandoned projects with friends and neglected others socially. I can’t provide them with a reason why. I have the time to dedicate, but not the mental stamina. I often spend too much time at the local brewery, but so did my inspirations, Ernest Hemingway and Hunter S. Thompson. The late authors could surely out-drink me in a sitting. How did they balance overt alcoholism and carve out best-sellers? Writing doesn’t feel like a chore to me. I just have to read, plan, and write more.

Your positive feedback has been wonderfully uplifting, and has imbued me with the strength to continue this blog. Your criticisms are always noted and have led me to improve my organizational skills. Writing “things” down is therapeutic for me and helps me create content. I daydream often and my thoughts begin to flow into powerful stories that I never write down. To gather these thoughts and inscribe them on paper is nearly insurmountable. Your support inspires me with hope. King David will continue because I enjoy owning something and not working for anyone else. Advocating for change has kept me vibrant and hopeful for the future. Join me in the struggle and let’s speak up for the consumer, together.
