How I saved $156 in Under an Hour

I know what you’re thinking. That can’t be possible. Your Highness, you can’t possibly make over a hundred dollars an hour. If I was making that much money, I wouldn’t be working my day job. So, what’s the secret? Is there a catch? Did you start stripping? Rob a bank? None of the above!

I first heard of BillSmart on the Startalk podcast. It was a difficult service for me to understand. I thought it would be an algorithm or chat bot that talks to my bank’s customer service department, similar to the “complainer app”, Paribus, which I also love to use. While Paribus uses a bot to message customer service for refunds on online purchases, BillSmart actually has a human on a 3-way call with you to help save you money. My advocate, John, asked questions like, “What can you do for a loyal customer like King David?”

“King David has been a customer with Wells Fargo for 6 years. King David has been using Bank of America for 13 years! What kinds of incentives can you provide to make him continue using your card? Why is his APR so high? Can we lower it by 4%?”

In my case, the goal was to lower the APR percentage on one credit card and have a late fee refunded on my other credit card. While we were unsuccessful in lowering the APR, John was able to negate the last interest payment and save me a late fee from earlier in the year. The 2 phone calls to the different banks was just short of an hour. I felt empowered to have someone advocate for me and be there to ask the questions to cut me a deal.

You won’t be able to use BillSmart if you don’t have any credit card debt, but for the many of us that do, they are great! You can contact your bank on your own and fight with customer service, but for those of us who despise calling the bank and for folks with a lot of anxiety and limited time, BillSmart works wonders. Lastly, BillSmart takes 25% of the savings [$208 x .25 = $52]. BillSmart made $52 and saved me $156. Your Majesty is thrilled with this advocacy service!

Unfortunately, I won’t get any kind of referral bonus for my BillSmart link, but if you use them and save some money, consider donating to the King David Blog below.
